Parent's Program

Parent's Program

At Moncton Headstart, we believe that supporting a child means supporting their whole family. Our Parents’ Program runs alongside the Children’s Program, offering caregivers practical skills, knowledge, and a community of support because what happens at home is just as important as what happens in the classroom.

Family Home Visits

Our Family Educators visit families in their homes, working one-on-one with caregivers to build confidence and develop positive parenting strategies tailored to their child’s individual needs. Home visits bring support directly to families in a comfortable, familiar setting.

Days-In

Parents are invited into the classroom to observe and participate alongside their child and our educators. These sessions help parents understand what their child is working on, why certain approaches are used, and how to reinforce learning and positive behaviour at home.

Parenting Groups

Research consistently shows that the quality of the parent-child relationship is one of the strongest predictors of a child’s long-term development. Our regularly scheduled groups and workshops give parents the tools and understanding to build stronger, healthier relationships with their children and the chance to connect with other families who understand what they’re going through.

Mental Health Counselling

We know that parenting can be hard, and that some families are carrying more than most. Headstart offers confidential, individual counselling sessions with an on-site clinical social worker, available by appointment to Headstart parents. There is no referral required and no waitlist to navigate, just support, when you need it.

Crisis Management

Life doesn’t always go according to plan. When families face unexpected challenges or difficult circumstances, our Family Educators provide an additional layer of hands-on support. We are committed to showing up for the whole family, not just during program hours.
