History

In 1974, Moncton Headstart was founded by the late Claudette Bradshaw who began offering free daycare to a few economically disadvantaged children in the greater Moncton area.

Her goal with this early Children’s Program was to help prepare them for school.

Later on, a review of the program identified the need to focus on improving the overall family environment by including the parents and admitting younger children into the program.

The Parent’s Program was then started in parallel, and it became a safe, secure experience that focused on educating the parents in a variety of different areas while working towards developing more effective parenting skills to benefit the children and the whole family.
