Becoming a parent is one of the most significant transitions a person will ever make. For most families, it’s also one of the hardest, full of joy, but also exhaustion, uncertainty, and moments of feeling overwhelmed. That’s true for every parent. For families facing additional challenges; very young parents, those dealing with depression, anxiety, domestic violence, or other difficult circumstances, the early months can feel especially isolating.
The relationship between a baby and their caregiver is the foundation of everything that follows. How a parent responds to their baby’s needs consistently, warmly, and attentively shapes brain development, emotional security, and the capacity to learn and connect throughout life. These earliest months matter enormously, and the right support at this stage can change a family’s entire trajectory.
Birth2Two provides regular, in-home support to expectant mothers and families with newborns, helping parents understand their baby’s cues, build confidence in their caregiving, and develop the kind of nurturing, responsive relationship that gives children the best possible start. Support is available for up to two years.
Birth2Two is designed for families who could benefit from additional support during this critical window. Referrals are accepted from physicians, social workers, public health nurses, and other health and social service providers. Families with newborns up to six months of age are eligible.
