“Headstart Families” are families who struggle to meet their most basic needs and require services, resource awareness and programs to help them thrive. This is where we come in. We offer our families opportunities and support for growth and change, through a multitude of programs and services aimed at developing healthy relationships, improving self-esteem, and developing skills.
The HighScope® Children’s Program is our core program.
Headstart children are taught using this highly-specialized, proven curriculum that targets key areas to ensure school readiness. At Headstart, we focus on developing our children’s ability to communicate problem solve and we lay the foundation for literacy (reading), social and emotional growth. Our children are also given real-world experiences to get a better understanding of their surroundings and their community. It is important that all children start school on an equal footing,
something that as parents and teachers we all value.
Equally important, this program actively involves the parents. Our parents spend two days each month in their child’s classroom. This improves their parenting skills, their relationship with their child and helps them to better understand their child’s unique developmental needs.
This family approach cultivates a sense of security, belonging and empowerment.
The HighScope® Children’s program gives hope to these families – hope and confidence that they can and will be important members of society.
The HighScope® Children’s Program currently serves 44 children ranging from 2-5 years of age.
